SAARC Scholarship Scheme for B.Sc. (Hospitality & Hotel Management) FAQs

Find answers to common questions about the SAARC HHM application process, eligibility, and benefits.

The SAARC scheme for B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Management is one of the Embassy of India, Kathmandu schemes still submitted on paper, in three complete sets, so most problems arise in the paperwork rather than in eligibility. These answers explain who can apply, what goes into each set and how selection works, based on the 2026-27 notice. Check the Embassy website for the current cycle.

It is a scheme offered through the Embassy of India, Kathmandu that nominates Nepalese students for the B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Management at affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs) in India. It is aimed at students who want an undergraduate career in hospitality and hotel administration.

For the 2026-27 cycle, applicants had to be Nepalese citizens aged 25 or under on July 1, 2026, who had passed Class 12 with at least 60% aggregate marks and at least 50% in English. Check the current notice for the age reference date of later cycles.

No. Appearing candidates are not eligible for this scheme. You need your final Class 12 mark sheet or transcript, notarised, at the time you apply.

Download the application form from the Embassy of India, Kathmandu website, fill it in or type it carefully, and prepare three complete sets of the form and documents. Submit them by post, by courier or in person to the Education Wing of the Embassy before the last date.

Each set contains the completed form with recent passport-size photographs, a notarised copy of your final Class 12 mark sheet or transcript, a copy of your passport or citizenship certificate, an English translation of that document certified by a Notary Public, and the bank voucher for the application fee.

The fee in the 2026-27 notice was NRs. 400, deposited at Nepal SBI Bank. The original bank voucher must be included with your application, so keep it safe and do not submit only a photocopy.

Select at least four preferred institutes from the official institute list. Listing too few limits your chances of being placed, so choose a sensible spread rather than only the best-known names.

The notice states that selection is based on academic record. Nomination by the Embassy does not by itself guarantee admission, which still has to be confirmed by the institute.

No. The notice says change of institution after admission is not allowed, so rank your preferences carefully before you submit.

No. Applications made through consultants or middlemen may be rejected. Prepare and submit the application yourself and deal directly with the Education Wing of the Embassy.

For the 2026-27 cycle the last date was May 21, 2026, and applications received after that date were not accepted. Dates change every year, so check the Embassy website for the current notice.
