About Our Merge PDF Tool

Many university application portals, including the ICCR A2A portal, require you to combine multiple documents into a single PDF file. For example, you may need to merge the front and back of your passport or citizenship certificate into one file, or combine multiple pages of your mark sheets together.

Our free Merge PDF tool allows you to easily combine multiple PDF files into one single document without losing quality. (To turn photos into a PDF first, use our JPG to PDF tool.) Your files are processed securely in your browser and are never uploaded to a server, ensuring your personal scholarship documents remain completely private.

How to use this tool

  1. Drop two or more PDF files into the upload area, or click to select them. Each file can be up to 50 MB, and you can add more files later by dropping them in again.
  2. Wait for the first-page thumbnails to appear so you can tell the files apart.
  3. Set the order by dragging the cards, or hover over a card and use its arrow buttons. The number badge shows each file's position in the final document.
  4. Remove a file you added by mistake with the cross icon on its card.
  5. Click the Merge button. It stays disabled until at least two files are in the list.
  6. Check the size shown on the result screen, then click Download PDF to save merged-document.pdf.

When portals ask for one combined file

Application forms usually give each document a single upload slot. When your document exists as several files, they have to be joined before upload. Typical cases for scholarship applicants include:

  • The front and back of a passport or citizenship certificate, scanned separately.
  • A bachelor's transcript made up of separate semester or year mark sheets.
  • A certificate and its notarised English translation.
  • A Class 12 mark sheet together with a supporting letter from the school.

Getting the order and quality right

Reviewers read a merged file from top to bottom, so put the main document first and supporting pages after it. Giving your files numbered names before you upload them, such as 01-front and 02-back, makes it easy to check the order at a glance.

Merging copies pages exactly as they are. Nothing is recompressed, so there is no loss of quality, but the merged file will be roughly the size of all the inputs added together. The tool includes every page of every file and does not remove individual pages, so prepare files that contain only the pages you want. Pages also keep their original rotation, so fix sideways scans before merging.

If a file will not merge, it is usually password-protected or damaged. Open it in a PDF viewer, save or print it to a fresh PDF, and try again.

Privacy

The thumbnails and the merged file are both produced inside your browser. Your passport, citizenship and mark sheets are never uploaded to our server, and the files are gone once you click Start Over or close the tab.

Which tool to use

This tool accepts PDF files only. If your pages are JPG or PNG images, combine them with /tools/jpg-to-pdf instead, or convert them there first and then merge the result here with your other PDFs. If the merged file is over a portal's size limit, run it through /tools/pdf-compressor. For the COMPEX citizenship and certificate fields, /tools/compex-documents merges and sizes the pages in a single step.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I merge JPG or PNG images with this tool?

No, it only accepts PDF files. Use /tools/jpg-to-pdf to turn images into a PDF, then merge that PDF here if needed.

Will merging reduce the quality of my scans?

No. Pages are copied as they are, without any recompression.

Why is the merged file so large?

Because nothing is compressed, the output is roughly the sum of the input sizes. Use /tools/pdf-compressor afterwards if a portal sets a limit.

How many files can I merge?

You need at least two. There is no fixed maximum, but each file can be up to 50 MB, and very large sets may be slow on phones because all the work happens on your device.

Can I change the order after merging?

Not in the finished file. Click Start Over, add the files again, arrange them, and merge once more.
