About Our COMPEX Document Prep Tool

Preparing documents for the COMPEX Scholarship can be confusing because the Embassy of India has very strict file size rules for each document. Your passport photo must be a 700 × 900 px JPG at 200 DPI between 100 and 200 KB, your signature a JPG between 80 and 150 KB, and your certificates PDFs between 100 and 1000 KB.

Our COMPEX Document Preparation Tool is designed to make this easy. Upload your original scanned files, and the tool will automatically resize and convert them to the exact specifications required by the COMPEX portal.

Everything is processed locally on your device, meaning your personal data never leaves your computer. Get your 5 required documents perfectly formatted and downloaded in one click.

How to use this tool

  1. Work through the five cards in any order: passport photo, signature, citizenship, Class 10 certificate and Class 12 certificate. Each card works on its own.
  2. On the photo card, click Upload Document and pick a JPG, JPEG or PNG file. In the crop window, which is locked to the 3.5:4.5 passport shape, drag and zoom until your face is centred, then click Apply Crop.
  3. Click Convert Document. The tool builds a 700 x 900 pixel JPEG at 200 DPI, checks it, and confirms the result in a green line.
  4. Upload your signature scan (an image or a PDF) and click Convert Document to get a compressed JPG.
  5. On each certificate card, click Upload Images, add every page in reading order (Add More Images adds pages, the cross removes one), then click Convert Document to merge them into one PDF sized for the form.
  6. Download files one at a time, or click Download All Processed Documents (ZIP) to save everything you have converted as COMPEX_Documents.zip.

Why COMPEX uploads get rejected

Each field on the online form checks the file type and whether the size sits inside the allowed window, and refuses anything that fails. The usual causes are:

  • A photo sent straight from a phone camera, which is usually several megabytes and the wrong shape.
  • An unsupported format. HEIC photos from some phones must be exported as JPG first, because this tool accepts only JPG, JPEG and PNG.
  • Certificate pages uploaded as separate images when the field expects one PDF.
  • Crooked or tightly cropped scans where a seal, signature or grade table is cut off.

Getting a clean result

The tool fixes format, shape and size, not content, so a blurred mark sheet stays blurred. Lay the paper flat, use even light and keep all four corners in frame. For the photo, use a plain white background; if the tool cannot get it under the size limit, a busy or grainy background is usually why.

Each certificate PDF has one size budget shared by all its pages, so fewer pages means more detail per page. Upload only the pages the field asks for. For citizenship, include every page of the notarised English translation, including the page with the notary stamp.

On the certificate cards, only the first page of an uploaded PDF is used. If your certificate is a multi-page PDF, split it into page images with /tools/pdf-to-jpg and upload those instead.

How processing works on your device

Cropping, compression and PDF building all run in your browser, so your citizenship and certificates never reach our server. Nothing is kept after you close or refresh the tab, so download your files before leaving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the photo always come out at 700 x 900 pixels?

The photo card follows one fixed specification so you do not have to calculate anything. If the official notice for your year gives different numbers, follow the notice and make a custom size with /tools/image-resizer.

Can I upload a PDF of my certificate instead of images?

Yes, but only the first page of each PDF is used. For a multi-page certificate, convert it to page images with /tools/pdf-to-jpg first.

Do I need to convert all five documents in one go?

No. Each card is independent, and the ZIP bundles whatever you have converted so far.

Is this tool connected to the Embassy of India or the COMPEX portal?

No. It is an independent helper made by this site. You still upload the files yourself on the official form, so always check the current notice for that year's requirements.
